SEEfest to host 2 films @ AFI Fest – GRADUATION and DEATH IN SARAJEVO

SEEfest is pleased to be hosting two wonderful films from South East Europe at AFI Fest this year. GRADUATION (BACALAUREAT) is about a middle-aged doctor in the city of Cluj in Romania who will stop at no lengths to keep his daughter’s scholarship to Cambridge alive when she is assaulted the day before her final exams (dir.: Cristian Mungiu, Romania, 128 min., 2016). In DEATH IN SARAJEVO (SMRT U SARAJEVU), the luxurious Hotel Europa is turned into an ‘ideological battleground’ during the centennial commemoration of the 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand (dir.: Danis Tanovic, France / Bosnia and Herzegovina, 85 min., 2016). Tickets to AFI Fest screenings are free, and we encourage you to join us in appreciating the great films from our region.
