HENRY
(Laughing)
No, it’s… it’s poetic. Minus that
little bit at the end, there.
AUTUMN
It was so close.
There is an awkward pause.
HENRY
Do you want to sleep with me?-
AUTUMN
Finally.
She kisses him full on, passionate. She starts to pull off
his shirt.
INT. RESTAURANT-DAY
Marshall’s mouth is open in disbelief. Jake looks skeptical.
There is a lot of distance between Jake and Henry. They are
staring at Henry, who is simply smiling and eating.
MARSHALL
TELL ME EVERYTHING.
INT. HENRY’S APARTMENT- DAY
KNOCK KNOCK. KNOCK.
Henry walks to the door, a giddy, boyish grin on his face.
He opens it and his smile drops. Jen stands at the door.
JEN
Hey, Henry.
CUT TO: LIVING ROOM
Jen is sitting on the couch. Henry hands her a glass of
water.
HENRY
What are you doing here, Jen?
JEN
I came to see how you were doing.

HENRY
Just wanted a friendly catch up?
JEN
I… I heard you’re seeing someone.
How is that going?
Henry stares at her, silent.
JEN
Look, I just miss you, okay? I miss
you.
HENRY
You’re a little late.
JEN
I know, and I know this is all
complicated and confusing and
unfair of me, which is why I didn’t
come before this, but now, Jake
said…
She catches herself a moment too late.
HENRY
Jake said what? (Silence.) Did Jake
send you here?
JEN
Please don’t be mad, he’s just
worried about you!
HENRY
So he sends the woman who broke my
heart back here to tear down
everything I’ve built since you
left me?
JEN
(Angry)
What, because sleeping with your
imaginary friend means your in such
a good place now?
HENRY
Iam
in a good place. With a
real
woman who I’m in love with. I had a
ring in my hand, and you walked
away.

JEN
That is not fair, Henry, and you
know it. I wasn’t ready.
HENRY
Three years means
so
much to you
that you can just up and leave.
JEN
No, I left because you
expected
something of me that I couldn’t
give! I wasn’t angry with you,
Henry, I was terrified! I panicked
and it was stupid, okay?! It was
the worst decision of my life and
all I want is for things to go back
the way they were. Is that what you
want to hear?
HENRY
No. It’s not. What I want to hear
is the door closing behind you.
This isn’t your life anymore.
JEN
This thing that you love, its not
real. She’s your escape card from
having to deal with the fact that
part of you still loves me.
HENRY
Get out.
Jen stares at him for a moment, then silently stands a
leaves. A moment later, we hear a knock, then the door opens
and Autumn walks in.
AUTUMN
Who was that?
HENRY
Absolutely nobody.
AUTUMN
Love, are you okay?
HENRY
I’m fine.
Autumn leans down to kiss him. He turns his head so she
kisses his cheek. This isn’t missed by her.
